We would like to thank everyone who attended the lake fireworks Saturday night. Judging from the number of watercraft, and how low many of the pontoons were riding, we had a very good turnout. Based on the initial comments, watching the fireworks from the deck of a boat is a different and very enjoyable experience. We would like your observations and suggestions on the activities if you attended; and comments, whether you attended or not, on if we should consider doing this again next year. Subject: Current Update
Date Posted: May15, 2008

This is not so much an announcement as an update to previous announcements and requests on this page. It has been a while since anything has been posted here and we just wanted to address a couple of things. First, there was no feedback, positive or negative, on the idea of putting ads on the site for sale of personal property. I did run into a neighbor who though it might be a good idea but that is the only feedback. The lack of interest kind of kills the idea for now. The second item was the request for articles about the subdivision, lake or activities in the area. Unfortunately, no one seems interested in becoming an amateur journalist. That’s a shame because that could have been an interesting part of the site. Last, the restriction rewrite activity has been kind of dead lately and they have not generated any new material to post. Hope everyone has a good summer. (webmaster)

Subject: Fishing Derby
Date Posted: May15, 2008

The annual fishing derby will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 8 to 11 a.m. Lunch will follow at noon. You can pre-register by calling Gary Arth at 659-1462 or in person on the day of the event at the activity area at the intersection of East Lake and St. Mary Drive. There will be three age divisions ranging from 1 through 19 with prizes awarded in each division. Come enjoy the fun. (Fish and Wildlife Committee)

These can be found my clicking on the “RECORDS & DOCUMENTS” tap on the homepage and selecting the list you are looking for from those defined on the page that comes up. New to this page is a link to a short description of all committees. There has also been added a selection for archived Board and Committee member list. Currently there are only two years covered by these list but there is a continuing effort to find data on previous years. Members of Dunlap Lake or encouraged to contact Board and Committee members with problems or concerns they may have. (Webmaster)

Subject: Restrictions Rewrite Update

Subject: New Board Members
Date Posted: March 11, 2008

We would like to congratulate and thank the following three new members to the Board; Walt Heck, Sylvia Putz, and Ron Wise. We look forward to working with them in the years to come.

We also want to thank the two returning members for electing to continue to server. Gary Arth has been chairman of the Fish and Wildlife Committee and the prime force behind the fishing derby each year. He was also chair of the Dam Maintenance Committee last year. Mike Weber in addition to serving as Vice-President last year also chaired the Silt & Erosion Committee. We all appreciate these fine members’ choice to continue their service to our community.

And last, but certainly not least, we want to express in the name of the entire Dunlap Lake Community our thanks to the three retiring members of the Board for their years of unselfish and outstanding service to this organization. In her final year Virginia Byran served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee; Barb Freeland served as Secretary and Chair of the Building Committee; and Marcia Wever chaired both the Safety Committee and the Meetings and Elections Committee. Marcia was also very active in the restrictions rewrite work and the committee hopes she will continue to help with that effort this year. These members are going to be sincerely missed and we thank them for all the time and effort they have donated to our Board. (Board Members)

Subject: Personal Ads on the Website
Date Posted: March 11, 2008

At the Membership meeting last month it was again suggested that this site have a section for ads selling personal property including boats and boating accessories. The idea had been rejected in the past because it was felt there was not sufficient interest or exposure to make it worth the effort. This decision is going to be reconsidered and if anyone has opinions on the subject, pro or con, that they would like to be considered please e-mail them to Webmaster@dunlaplake.org (Webmaster)

Subject: Silt Committee E-Mail
Date Posted: March 10, 2008

At the Membership meeting last month there was a request to establish an e-mail address for writing the Silt Committee with suggestions and comments on lake silt problems and solutions. The address silt-comm@dunlaplake.org has been established. E-mails received at that address will be forwarded to the committee for consideration and reaction. (Webmaster)

Subject: Pictures on the Website
Date Posted: March 10, 2008

The pictures I was able to retrieve from the old website have been posted and are available for viewing under the “PHOTOGRAPHS” tab of the homepage. For those of you with dial-up access only, I apologize for the size of these files. Most of the stuff I was able to retrieve was high resolution and these will require a little patience to download at 56K. Starting with the 2008 pictures, I plan to modify the files to provide a smaller and more uniform download for viewing. When sending pictures for sharing on this site, please send the raw, highest resolution available. I will make the modification when they are being uploaded. Speaking of sharing, your electronic copies of photos of Dunlap Lake activities are welcome. If it is not just a scenic shot, a brief description or title should be included. Send photos and questions to Webmaster@dunlaplake.org (Webmaster)

Subject: New Website
Date: January 1, 2008

Welcome to the Dunlap Lake/Dunlap Lake Subdivision website which is operated and maintained by the Dunlap Lake Property Owners Association for the benefit of our members. We are currently in the process of redoing the entire site and as soon as our webmaster (?) learns a little about computers and websites we hope to see great improvements. The two things he has committed to are to make the site more active (we think that means more information of value to our members posted in a timely manner) and to make it more interactive (That's going to take a little longer. Our webmaster is still reading Building a Website for Dummies). We hope the membership finds our new site useful and an improvement. If anyone has questions, send the webmaster an e-mail. After all, he volunteered to do this. (Website Committee)
