The Dunlap Lake LUAU has been RESCHEDULED for Saturday, June 13.
The event was cancelled for today because the social lot is already a muddy mess and more rain is expected throughout the day.
We will meet on Saturday, June 13 instead. Please note that the times will change. We have to move everything up an hour. That makes the Boat Parade at 3 pm and dinner at 5 pm.
Hope you can join us then!
The regular Association board meeting will be at 7 pm Monday at 840 East Lake Drive. Also download here.
In May of 1941 the first phase of construction on the lake was complete. The beginning of World War II delayed the second phase of construction until after the war.
The board met Monday, April 28 at 840 East Lake Drive. Most of the discussion is already covered elsewhere in the newsletter. Other highlights include:
- Geotechnical work has been done at 840 East Lake Drive. Reports will be in soon.
- Greenside Lawn and Landscaping was approved to continue mowing commons areas
- Lou and James Perrini will continue mowing the difficult portions of the dam and do the brush cleanup recommended at the last inspection
- Options for improving signage and making monthly agendas are still being considered
- The permits for fireworks on the dam July 3 have been approved

How long have you lived in Dunlap Lake? I have lived on the lake for 10 years.
What’s your favorite thing about living here? Boating and swimming with my family and friends.
What brought you here? My wife had relatives who were original residents on the lake and she had been coming here all her life. We enjoyed visiting and when the opportunity came up we moved here.
What’s something about you that people may not know? I am a member of the lake board and I brought the idea of the fireworks show to the board and I have chaired the committee ever since.
Is there something you want people to know? You don’t have to be on the lake board to be part of a committee. This lake belongs to all of us and there are a lot of challenges we face and get involved and help work with the board.
Who would play you in a movie about your life? Will Ferrell
If you could have dinner with any two people (living or dead), who would they be? Stan Musial and Carlos Santana
Hobbies, sports or anything that brings joy and contentment to life? Love sports and music and spending time with my kids.
Family: Wife Kate and children Maggie and Sam
Several boats that do not have stickers or that appear to be abandoned have been tagged and will be removed from the lake. Please reply to this e-mail if your boat was marked in error.
The board has approved removal of the rotted railroad ties and riprap for the B1 commons area along the boat ramp. Work specifications have been sent out for bid and a vendor will be selected soon.
Residents are asked to help clean up commons areas. Please collect everything into a pile on the side of the road. We hope to have a pickup before Memorial Day and a final limb pick up on May 27.
