As the lake fills up with silt, algae levels are reaching an all-time high. New grass carp are being added and a special algae rake has been purchased. The rake is available to any residents wanting to clear a path from their boats to the main channel.
The board researched options for chemical treatment but found the options were extremely expensive and pose a number of risks. The board is working on having a dredging proposal to present by the Association’s Annual Meeting in February. If operating a boat in shallow water now it is important not to let the engine get clogged up. Some residents have reported that putting the motor in reverse before it gums up will help clear the algae.
