FAQ

Where’s the Cahokia Creek watershed? Watershed planning is being done for two large watersheds that feed into Cahokia Creek. The watershed areas extend from Dorchester in Macoupin County, through Edwardsville and Maryville, and on down to Caseyville in St. Clair County. See the attached map.

What’s the watershed planning process all about? Water quality and flooding are the two main issues to be assessed. The watershed plan, which is likely to be complete approximately 2 years from now, will identify strategies to address these issues. Best Management Practices for flood damage prevention and stormwater management will be presented, along with costs, considerations, and potential sources of funding.

Why should I come to an Open House? Come along to learn more about your watershed: which waters are polluted, which way the streams flow, and possible Best Management Practices that can help improve water quality and flooding issues. Also, inform the planning team about flooding that has affected you, by taking the Community Flood Survey and highlighting locations on our large watershed maps.

See the attached flyer and the project web page for more information. Hope to see you there!
