I just wanted to let you know the engineers checked out the spillway today and reviewed the drawings of the original structure built in 1963 and the updates made in 1972.
The 1972 fix has lasted for 43 years but a little bit of water is getting around it on the far side, up by the North Shore boat ramp. Hurst-Rosche Engineering, the firm that inspects the dam each year for the State, will make a recommendation on the best way to deal with the water.
Mike Watts is expecting to have to keep the lake down 18-24 inches for several days while the repairs are being made. At this point he does not known when the work will start.
