Fall Bonfire 7 PM Friday Oct. 20

THIS FRIDAYMeet old friends and make new ones over s’mores around this year’s bonfire. There’s a chill in the air so bundle up and meet at 840 East Lake at 7 p.m. Friday, October 20. Look for the stone that says 840, there’s no mailbox.

Hot dogs & S’mores provided

Bring a drink, a snack to share, and a lawn chair

Cindy Neuhaus, winner of last year’s holiday bake-off promised to make a special dessert

Family & friends welcome, reply to carolyn@dunlaplake.org.

There are 7 acres with lots of parking. Volunteers are needed at 6 pm help prepare the fire pit and do a quick clean up of the house and grounds.
     Note: The
Seuberts will be opening their home to visitors wanting a preview of the haunted house on Oct. 22 instead of prior to the bonfire this year.

Lake to be Lowered This Winter

Lowering the lake last winter seemed to freeze out a lot of the problem plant life Dunlap Lake experienced during the summer of 2016. The plan is to drop it again this winter when a long cold spell is predicted to see if it will work again. It will be kept low through a hard freeze and then allowed to fill up as quickly as rain and snow will fall to fill it.

Commons Beautification Efforts

Thanks to everyone who helped with commons beautification projects this summer. With an E.N.E.R.G.I. Grant from the City of Edwardsville, the Association has been able to add a new announcement board on both sides of the lake as well as new commons signs.
Two of the wooden subdivision signs have been painted. Special thanks go to Gene and Joni Peters, Genie Manterfield and Brenda Carney for their for their artistic endeavors. Michael Keck, Lanny Langston, Lea Frea and Roy Wehling have installed signs and landscaping.
Genie Manterfield has been coordinating gardening efforts on the commons areas. Reply to carolyn@dunlaplake.org if you are interested in doing more planting, if you want to help maintain one of the flower beds or if you are already maintaining a flower bed on a commons area and need materials or assistance.

Bonfire Friday Oct. 20
