At the February 16, 2017, Annual Meeting, Mayor Hal Patton asked the membership of the Dunlap Lake Property Owners Association to consider being part of the City’s regional system to manage storm water. The City will be partnering with the Madison County Storm Water Management Commission and applying for grants and Mayor Patton would like the Association to be part of that effort.

He is encouraging residents to re-consider asking the City to create an SSA to fund dredging and is willing to ask the City Council to commit some engineering support, funding, and grant partnership to help in the project. Since some residents do not like an SSA because it spreads the payments out for 20 years, he proposed a lump-sum buyout option be used for anyone preferring to pay up front. The buyout could create hundreds of thousands dollars in interest-free funding up front for the project.
